📜 Criminal Code Amendment Bill 2024
The bill amends the Criminal Code to introduce a new offence of assault on retail workers with higher penalties and removes the lower summary conviction penalty for repeat stealing offenders.
Impact
Retail workers will be more protected by law, and repeat stealing offenders will face harsher penalties. This matters because it aims to deter violence against retail staff and reduce repeat offending for stealing.
