Service Level Commitment
Last updated: April 2026
This page describes what GovScanner aims to deliver. It is a transparency commitment - not a legally binding Service Level Agreement (SLA) and not part of our Terms of Service. We publish it because we believe you should know what to expect and how we handle things when they go wrong.
Data source update frequency
We monitor 10 WA government data sources. Here's how often we aim to capture new content:
| Source | Target update frequency |
|---|---|
| WA Government Gazette | Daily - within 4 hours of publication |
| Parliamentary Hansard | Daily on sitting days - within 4 hours of publication |
| Tabled Papers | Daily on sitting days - within 4 hours of publication |
| Bills | Daily on sitting days - within 4 hours of publication |
| Acts of Parliament | Within 24 hours of assent |
| Questions on Notice | Weekly - within 4 hours of publication |
| Committee activity | Within 4 hours of publication |
| Regulations | Within 24 hours of publication |
| Explanatory Memoranda | Daily on sitting days - within 4 hours of publication |
| Procurement & scheme notices | Within 24 hours of publication |
These targets assume the government source websites are available and publishing in their normal format. If a source changes its structure or goes offline, there may be delays while we adapt.
Uptime
- Target: 99.5% monthly uptime (excluding scheduled maintenance).
- Scheduled maintenance: Typically performed during off-peak hours (midnight–6am AWST) with at least 24 hours' notice.
If we miss something
We're not perfect, and government data sources can be unpredictable. Here's what we do when things go wrong:
- Monitoring: We actively monitor our data collection pipelines and alert on failures internally.
- Backfill: If we identify a gap in data collection, we backfill missed items as quickly as possible.
- Transparency: We aim to be upfront about issues rather than hoping nobody notices.
- Continuous improvement: Every missed item is treated as a bug and investigated to prevent recurrence.
A note on expectations
GovScanner is a monitoring aid, not an insurance policy. For matters where missing a government action could have serious consequences for your business, we strongly recommend maintaining independent monitoring processes alongside GovScanner.
We take our job seriously and work hard to make sure you don't miss anything important. But government data sources are ultimately outside our control, and we want to be honest about that rather than make promises we can't guarantee.
