The Rottnest Island Authority closes waters in Thomson Bay to all vessels (excluding emergency and authorised vessels) between 6:00am on Saturday 31 December 2022 and 12:00pm on Sunday 1 January 2023, within 25 metres of the shoreline from 400 metres south of the Hotel Jetty to Mushroom Rock headland. Tenders are permitted to access the beach between specified points, excluding swimming areas. Restrictions are for public safety.
