In accordance with section 7 of the Water Services Act 2012, the Hon Dave Kelly MLA, Minister for Water, has revoked the previous class exemption for drainage services provided by local government (dated 27 June 2017). A local government that provides a drainage service anywhere in the state is exempt from the requirement under section 5 of the Water Services Act 2012 to hold a water services licence. The exemption will come into effect on the day it is published in the Government Gazette and is valid until 8 May 2019.
