Pursuant to section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, landowners are required to clear fire breaks and remove inflammable materials by October 1, 2018, or within 14 days of becoming the owner/occupier. Specified land and fire breaks must be cleared from October 1, 2018, to March 31, 2019. Failure to comply may result in a $250 infringement or prosecution up to $5000. Applications for alternative fire breaks must be submitted by October 1, 2018. Restrictions exist on clearing native vegetation.
