Pursuant to Section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, owners/occupiers of land are required by 30 November 2017 to remove flammable material or install 3-metre wide mineral earth firebreaks and trim overhanging trees to a clearance height of 4 metres, maintained until 31 May 2018. Inspection of properties will occur after 30 November 2017. Non-compliance results in a $250 infringement notice. Penalty for failing to comply with the notice is up to $5000.
