The treasurer has requested the economic regulation authority (era) undertake an inquiry into options to reduce the regulatory burden and other economic costs of state government business and occupational licences. The inquiry will involve extensive consultation with state government agencies, businesses and the general community. The inquiry began on 30 november 2017 and will finish on 22 february 2019, when the era will provide a final report including its recommendations to the treasurer.
