The Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) closes waters in Thomson Bay to all vessels (excluding emergency and authorised vessels) between 6:00am on Sunday 31 December 2023 and 12:00pm on Monday 1 January 2024, within 25 metres of the shoreline from 400 metres south of the Hotel Jetty to Mushroom Rock headland. Tenders (max 3.75m) are permitted access to the beach from 70m south of the Hotel Jetty to 35m north of the Stark Jetty, excluding swimming areas. Restrictions are for public safety.
