The Local Government Amendment Act 2023 changes the Local Government Act 1995 to provide for independent committee members to receive meeting fees. The Salaries and Allowances Tribunal has issued a Determination to allow for the payment of meeting fees to independent committee members. Local governments will have the ability to set appropriate fees, within a specified range.
