I refer to video conference technology utilised by Child Protection staff in regional Western Australia for training, and I ask: (a) on how many occasions was video conference technology utilised for staff training in 2013-2014 and 1 July 2014 to date; (b) what was the cost saving associated with video conference technology for training regional staff in 2013-2014; and (c) what is the anticipated cost saving of utilising video conference technology for staff training in 2014-2015?

(a) Video conference technology was used to deliver formal training courses by the Department for Child Protection and Family Support's (the Department) Learning and Development Centre as follows:
- 2013-2014 - 19 occasions; and
- 1 July 2014 to 30 October 2014 - 18 occasions.
(b) The Department estimates that approximately $229,052 was potentially saved in travel, accommodation and other costs as a result of using video conferencing technology for training purposes.
(c) The Department estimates that a similar level of savings will be achieved in 2014-15.
