POINT
SAMSON — PROPOSED BUFFER ZONE
896. Hon JON FORD to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for State Development:
I refer to proposed Point Samson buffer zone ministerial
reserve 35813.
(1) What progress has been made with
the proposal to put in place an agreed Point Samson buffer zone?
(2) Can the
minister confirm that a proposal with widespread support has been on offer for
the state government to sign off on since around August 2008?
(3) Given that
Rio Tinto has given written confirmation of its willingness to make
contributions to the establishment and maintenance of the buffer, what is the
reason for the delay?

I do not seem to have an answer to that question. I vaguely
recall seeing it earlier today. If it turns up during question time, I will
give the member a response; otherwise I will do it tomorrow.
