The Minister Replied:
(a) Yes
(b) Beaufort Street wing
. defective roof structure with dry rot
. cracked ceilings and walls
Jubilee wing
. defective roof structure with dry rot
(c) Repair of roofing requires major scaffolding and potential replacement of ceilings. Much of the roof cannot be properly accessed for full investigation.
Estimates for structural/heritage repair work for both buildings total approximately $1.5m. Further investigative work will be required when the building is scaffolded, to determine final estimates.
(d) The WA Museum will be submitting a bid for funds in the 2001/2002 budget process.
(e) The timing of the repairs will depend on the outcome of the 2001/2002 budget process.
