I refer the Minister to his answer to Question on Notice No. 636, provided on 5 May 2009, and ask:
(a) can the Minister confirm that Meltham train station continues to be serviced by a total of 61 car parking bays: 36 bays in the front of the station off Railway Parade, 9 bays in the car park north of the station off Railway Parade and 16 bays in the car park south of the station off Whatley Crescent;
(b) what were the findings or the outcome of the Public Transport Authority’s investigation into the opportunities which exist to increase the number of car bays at Meltham station;
(c) will extra car bays be provided; and
(i) if so, how many extra car bays will be provided, where will they be provided and how much will they cost to provide; and
(d) is the current amount of car parking provided at Meltham train station meeting demand by commuters?

(a) Yes.
(b) Preliminary findings have shown there is available land for additional parking at the Perth end of the station, adjacent to the station on Railway Parade. Detailed planning and design of the car parking arrangements will commence in the 2011 financial year.
(c) The provision of extra car bays will be determined upon completion of the detailed planning and design work.
(i) The cost and number of car bays that can be provided cannot be ascertained until more detailed planning and design occurs.
(d) It is acknowledged the car parking facilities at Meltham station is operating close to or at full capacity.
