NURSES — KIMBERLEY
617. Mr V.A. CATANIA to the Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question.
Minister, what exactly are you doing to ensure that nurses, doctors and other
healthcare professionals have a safe place to live and work and are not living
in fear of being broken into night after night?

That is an interesting segue for a supplementary,
Madam Speaker. I would obviously love to refer the member to the Minister for
Police, but standing orders do not allow me to do so. I am not responsible for
the issues associated with law and order that the member alleges. We do,
however, very much support our staff working in a lot of these difficult
circumstances. We have a big range of technology that is going out at the
moment to make sure that people have more CCTV —
Mr V.A. Catania : This is a staffing
issue.
Mr R.H. COOK : — and
more opportunities around technology such as duress alarm systems and things of
that nature to make sure that they feel safe in the workplace.
With respect to safety in the
community, I would refer the member to another minister.
