518. Hon DARREN WEST to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the section of BencubbinQQQ ### QQQKellerberrin Road from the Trayning town site to the
Shire of Kellerberrin boundary.
(1) Is the Minister for Transport aware that this section of
road has now failed?
(2) Is the
minister aware that this section of road was not constructed to a suitable
standard for grain freight?
(3) Why was
this 2.01-kilometre section of road not identified as needing upgrading under
the original grain freight network?
(4) How is the minister planning to address the failing roads
in the Shire of Trayning?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1)–(2) Yes. The minister was advised by an email
from the Shire of Trayning on 5 May 2015.
(3) The
2.01-kilometre section was excluded from the grain freight road improvement
program by Main Roads WA as it had been widened by the shire.
(4) The state
assists local government to upgrade and maintain the local road network via the
annual local roads program.
