Perth Royal Show—Attendance
526. Mr Lachlan Hunter to
the Premier:
I have a
supplementary question. Is it correct that the Premier's government lost
interest in supporting families with cost-of-living struggles immediately after
the state election because he no longer needs to buy their votes?
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members!
Ms Rita Saffioti interjected.
The Speaker: Treasurer, thank you.
Member, that supplementary is not a supplementary
question. The Premier can respond to it if he chooses to.

Once again, the
member for Central Wheatbelt has taken his opportunity for a supplementary
question to further misrepresent the truth in this place—to spread falsehoods.
The member for Central Wheatbelt would be aware, because he obviously reads our
press releases, that we have our Kids Access All Areas Pass over the summer
holidays to provide yet another—
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members! Premier, please just wait. Members,
there is too much to-ing and fro-ing from both sides. It is making it very
difficult for ministers to respond to the questions and it is making even more
difficult for Hansard to capture those responses. Please cease the cross-chamber
chatter.
Mr Roger Cook: Our Kids Access All Areas Pass for
summer will provide a lot of opportunity for kids to get access to some great
state venues—opportunities to go to the Museum and other things like
that.
We know that the
member for Central Wheatbelt does not believe a word of what he says because he
knows it is untrue.
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members!
Ms Rita Saffioti interjected.
The Speaker: Treasurer!
Mr Roger Cook: He is constantly interjecting but is
not prepared to say sorry. He is not prepared to apologise for deliberately
misleading the house. He is not prepared to stand up and accept that he was
being untruthful.
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members!
Mr Roger Cook: He was deliberately making falsehoods—bringing
falsehoods into this place—and he knew it, he admitted it—
Withdrawal of remark
The Speaker: Premier, sorry, you cannot make that
statement about deliberately making falsehoods. Please withdraw that.
Mr Roger Cook: Mr Speaker—
The Speaker: Premier, please withdraw.
Mr Roger Cook: I withdraw, Mr Speaker.
Questions without notice resumed
Mr Roger Cook: But we know that he deliberately came
to this place knowing what we know now. He knew what he was about to say. He knew
because of his interjections on the Treasurer that what he was saying was
potentially a falsehood.
Ms Sandra Brewer interjected.
The Speaker: Member for Cottesloe, thank you!
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members!
Mr Roger Cook: Mr Speaker, you should not believe a
word that he says.
Point of order
Mr Shane Love: I appreciate the Premier might be angry
because the member for Central Wheatbelt has made some interjections but surely
the entirety of his response cannot be about the member for Central Wheatbelt.
The question was about the Royal Show.
The Speaker: Correct, thank you Leader of the Opposition.
The original question was—
Several members

The Speaker: Leader of the Opposition—pass—Leader
of the Nationals WA!
The question
originally was about the Royal Show.
Several members interjected.
The Speaker: Members, the Speaker is still speaking.
The supplementary
question was not about the Royal Show, which is why the Premier can respond the
way he wants to respond.

Mr Roger Cook: Which provides me with an opportunity
to say that we know that the member for Central Wheatbelt misrepresented the
truth in this place. He has gone quiet. The member for Central Wheatbelt, as
you well know Mr Speaker, is very fond of listening to his own voice in this
place. We do not hear from him now. When is he going to speak up? Perhaps he
could, by way of interjection, apologise.
The Speaker: No!
Mr Roger Cook: He is interjecting an awful lot, Mr
Speaker!
We all know that we
cannot believe a word that the member for Central Wheatbelt utters in this
place. Today he has shown exactly—
The Speaker: Members! Leader of the Opposition!
Mr Roger Cook: —how much he is prepared to
misrepresent the truth. He is on three calls, so I am just trying to push him a
little bit further! On that note, Mr Speaker, I might sit down!
The Speaker: Oh dear, it is Thursday!
