(a) Following the General election in February 2005, ministerial officers employed pursuant to section 68 of the
Public Sector Management Act 1994
, and electorate officers employed pursuant to the
Parliamentary and Electorate Staff (Employment) Act 1992
were eligible to receive termination payments in accordance with their employment contracts. Funding of $1,700,000 was provided for payments to be made in 2004-05. A further $775,000 was provided in 2005-06 to allow for those ministerial officers that elected to defer their termination entitlements for three months beyond the day set for the return of the writ of election in the Legislative Assembly.
(b) Termination benefits paid under these employment contracts include accrued and pro-rata annual leave, accrued long service leave (and in the case of ministerial officers, pro-rata long service leave), up to 4 weeks salary in payment in lieu of notice and up to a maximum of 46 weeks salary based upon length of service.
(c) The following officers received termination payments up to and including 30 June 2005. With the exception of Mr Torrens who received a severance payment pursuant to the
Public Sector Management (Redeployment and Redundancy) Regulations 1994
, all were Ministerial (TOG) Officers or Electorate Officers.

(d) Funding of $775,000 was provided in 2005-06 to cover officers who exercised their entitlement to defer the payment of their termination entitlements for three months until 14 July 2005. The following Ministerial Officers and Electorate Officers have been paid termination entitlements in 2005-06.
