I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. (1) They are to enable young qualified drivers such as students to become taxidrivers, especially to provide peak-period taxi services. (2) No. (3) Not applicable. (4) Not necessary. (5) No. (6) Not necessary. This change brings Western Australia more into line with other states, many of which have a minimum age of 20 years. All taxidrivers must be competent drivers, pass an Australian Federal Police check, undertake proper training, and pass a competency taxidriver test conducted by the Department for Planning and Infrastructure.
