I have a supplementary question. Does the minister concede that before this Government embarks on a massively expensive, pie-in-the-sky sustainability strategy it should first ensure that agencies are able to properly execute existing sustainability strategies? Dr J.M. EDWARDS

I am absolutely confident that all my departments are appropriately and properly going about their responsibilities in a sustainable manner. I will talk about the horizon. The Labor Party sees the horizon; we know what it means and we can also see over the horizon. We are thinking about people in other parts of the world. Indeed, this morning I chaired a meeting of international environment ministers. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER: Order, members! Dr J.M. EDWARDS: Thank you, Mr Speaker. The Labor Party also looks over the horizon and thinks about the generations to follow. For that reason, this Government has protected old-growth forests. Sustainability aspects were considered when that decision was made. The Government has put in place plans for the individuals who have been affected. The Government is managing those communities, and has protected the environment. That is an approach that the Government tries to take in all aspects of its decision-making. I believe that we do that very well. Government members: Hear, hear!
