parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Mental Health:
I refer to the Wheatbelt Community
Alcohol and Drug Service.
(1) How much
funding was provided to the service in 2015–2016 and how much funding
is being provided in 2016–2017?
(2) What services are provided by
the agency and in which towns?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) In 2015–16
the Mental Health Commission provided $1 065 781 of funding for the Wheatbelt
Community Alcohol and Drug Service. In 2016–17 the funding will equate
to $1 261 285.
(2) The WCADS is
delivered by Holyoake Australian Institute for Alcohol and Drug Addiction
Resolution Inc and is the main region-wide alcohol and other drug treatment and
prevention service in the wheatbelt. WCADS provides outpatient counselling for
individuals, families and significant others, case management, information and
education, prevention activities and diversion services including cannabis
intervention sessions. WCADS has offices in Northam, Merredin and Narrogin, and
provides outreach to other locations within the region.
