GOLDFIELDS ENGAGEMENT CENTRE
1050. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Attorney General
representing the Minister for Education:
I refer to the Goldfields Engagement
Centre. In 2016 to date how many students received support on site at the
engagement centre?

AnswerView source ↗

On behalf of the Minister for
Education, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
As of 19 September 2016, nine
students have received intensive support onsite at the Goldfields Engagement
Centre. A further 16 students have received intensive support from engagement
centre staff, which has been delivered within the schools at which the students
are enrolled. The Goldfields Engagement Centre also provides professional
learning support for teachers. This includes classroom management strategies,
positive behaviour support, de-escalation and restraint training, and workshops
tailored for school and/or network contexts on managing challenging behaviour.
In 2016, the Goldfields Engagement Centre delivered professional learning to
171 participants.
