Further to question on notice No. 347, asked in the Legislative Council on 10 March 2009 and answered on 2 April 2009, and an article in
The West Australian
, ‘Sea rise risk spurs coast map project’, of 11 April 2009 -
(1) Was the Minister for Lands or the Department advised that the Minister for Planning had committed $1.6 million to a project to assess how the State’s coast could be affected by climate change?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) Was the Minister for Lands or the Department advised that the Western Australian Planning Commission had commenced work on its 3D map of the land and sea floor from Yanchep to Cape Naturaliste?
(4) If no to (3), why not?
(5) If yes to (3), why did the Minister for Lands respond to question on notice No. 347 incorrectly when he said, ‘While the data exists to create a new set of maps this is not currently scheduled or budgeted to be produced in the foreseeable future’?
