(2) Option D was ranked low during the Freight Network Review, so was not in the Local Impact Committee Terms of Reference. (3) An environmental impact assessment was conducted for the current Metropolitan Region Scheme alignment for the Roe Highway extension to the Kwinana Freeway as part of the previous planning. Following the outcomes of the Metropolitan Freight Network Review, the Minister established a Local Impacts Committee (LIC) with broad representation and chaired by the Member for Riverton, Tony McRae. As part of its first terms of reference, the LIC is to determine the preferred alignment for Roe Highway. In doing so, LIC requested reviews of all environmental issues as part of their examination of alternative alignments within the chosen planning corridor. (4) The previous Environmental Assessment and Management Plan (EAMP) completed in 1999 will be provided to the Honourable Member. The Community can be assured, that when a decision is made to proceed with the extension of Roe Highway from South Street towards the Kwinana Freeway, the work will be undertaken in such a manner as to minimise environmental impacts. The Minister has also requested Main Roads to consult widely in the delivery-planning phase and as part of the public environmental review. Stakeholders and local interest groups, such as the Friends of Ken Hurst Park will be involved in the decisions and management actions that will protect sensitive areas of flora and fauna. The development of a joint management plan by Main Roads and the City of Melville for Ken Hurst Park (KHP) might be one such action. (5) (i) Reports in Appendices to the EAMP for existing MRS alignment. (ii) Extensive Declared Rare Flora (DRF) search over LIC planning corridor. (iii) Vegetation survey and mapping over LIC planning corridor. (6) The Minister will arrange for copies and updated studies to be made available to the Honourable Member. (7) (i) The flora studies were carried out in Spring 1997. Flora studies are conducted at flowering times in order to maximise the number of species identified and the overall quality of the findings. (ii) Fauna survey for KHP in 1992. (iii) New DRF search and vegetation survey in Spring 2002. (8) Yes. (9) Caladenia huegelii – Grand Spider Orchid, which is a DRF. One Priority 2 species, Lysinema elegans was also found in 1997. This species is no longer on the priority lists. (10) No.
