I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. On behalf of the Minister for Education, I provide the following response — I have been informed that the Pilbara District Education Office staff recently met with the local magistrate, the Department of Corrective Services and Juvenile Justice Prisons WA to discuss the placement of young offenders at Ngurrawaana. The community has limited services to support the health and wellbeing of these offenders, including provision of special education programs. The magistrate indicated that he would no longer be bailing children to Ngurrawaana.
