(1) Yes, the Minister is satisfied with Austral Brickworks' new monitoring methods and sites. The Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) has advised that construction of the new ambient monitoring sites for Caversham and Bellevue is well underway, and that the location of these sites and the methodology proposed are acceptable.
(2) DEC issued licences for Austral Brickworks in Caversham, Bellevue, Malaga and Armadale on 29 June 2007. The licence for Austral Brickworks at Cardup was issued by DEC on 29 November 2007.
(3) There were no additional emission limits or targets conditions in the Austral Brickworks licences issued for Caversham, Bellevue, Malaga and Armadale on 29 June 2007. These licences were issued without change, pending DEC's finalisation of the new licences and Environmental Assessment Reports for these sites. Once this process has been completed, the new licences will include limits and targets conditions for all Austral Brickworks sites.
(4) The Austral Brickworks Caversham licence requires quarterly stack testing for hydrogen fluoride, hydrogen chloride, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides (expressed as the sum of nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide), carbon monoxide, Volatile Organic Compounds and total particulates. Austral Brickworks is also required to continuously monitor ambient hydrogen fluoride at two locations near the brickworks site.
