UNEMPLOYMENT — FIGURES
868. Mr M. McGOWAN to the
Premier:
I ask a supplementary question. Considering that Tasmania now
has a lower unemployment rate than Western Australia on the Premier's
watch, does his offer to go and run Tasmania still stand?

AnswerView source ↗

It was a flippant comment that I made. I think I described
Tasmania as Australia's national park because under the previous Labor
government in Tasmania, it rejected virtually every development opportunity one
after another.
Mr P. Papalia :
Tourism's great. It's going ahead.
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
It has a Liberal government; that is why it is going ahead now. Good on them.
