The Commissioner and Executive of the Department of Corrective Services made the decision not to continue with the secondment of departmental employees to the Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services. The potential for perceived conflict of interest between the Department and an oversight body as well as the autonomy of the Inspector's office as an independent statutory authority were considerations when making the decision.
