QuestionView source ↗
I refer to the new Perth Children's Hospital (PCH) in my electorate and ask: (a) what date did water first flow into the PCH; (b) how long did it take to fill the PCH storage and pipe network and what was this volume; (c) does the PCH have water usage gauges to measure water consumption independently from other Department of Health facilities at Queen Elizabeth (QE) II Medical Centre; (d) has the PCH been paying WaterCorporation directly for its direct water usage or has it been paying as part of its share of the QEII Medical Centre usage; (e) can the Minister provide a table of the water volumes per month (or other convenient similar period) consumed by the PCH since water first flowed into the hospital; (f) what has been the cost of water use for the same periods provided in the answer to (e); and (g) when the PCH is fully operational, what is the estimated monthly water usage and corresponding cost?

I am advised that:
(a) Mid-2015.
(b) The fill was the responsibility of John Holland Pty Ltd and was completed in stages; the Department does not know when the system was first completely filled nor the fill time. The volume of the total system is estimated at 400,000L inclusive of potable water tanks and pipework.
(c) Yes.
(d) PCH’s water consumption is included in the overall QEII Medical Centre site water costs, paid by the North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS).
(e) Consumption details, since ‘water first flowed’, are not available. NMHS records pre-December 2016 indicate a total consumption of 87341kL from 04/04/2013 until 04/01/2016.
The water metering system has been in place since the end of 2016 and the table below shows site potable water consumption in kilolitres (kL) per month since that time.
