I refer to the old Carnarvon Primary
School building and land.
(1) Is the school being leased for
private or commercial use; and, if yes, who is the site being leased to?
(2) If yes to (1), what is the value
and duration of any contracts entered into?
(3) If the school
is being leased for private or commercial use, did the minister approve the
contract and use?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes. The
administration area, a classroom, a covered assembly area and toilets at the
former Carnarvon Primary School are being used by Nagle Catholic College at
present. The deed of licence for the use of these facilities is currently being
finalised with the Roman Catholic Bishop of Geraldton.
(2) This
arrangement, which is based on a peppercorn rent, commenced on 1 July 2015 and
is due to terminate on 30 June 2017.
(3) No. The
deputy director general, finance and administration from the Department of
Education will soon sign the deed of licence under delegated authority.
