FIRE DANGER RATING SYSTEM
864. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to the Australian Fire
Danger Rating System and Legislative Council question without notice 839.
(1) Will the
minister please table the revised SAP 3.5.A relating to total fire bans, noting
it has been almost six weeks since the implementation of the new rating system?
(2) Will the
minister please identify which fire weather districts have recorded a fire
behaviour index of 50 and above since 21 September 2022; and, of those, how
many were subject to a TFB?
(3) Noting that
one fire weather district has recorded an FBI of 97, which is 47 points above
the threshold for a TFB declaration, yet according to local and Department of
Fire and Emergency Services intelligence a TFB was not warranted, what action
has been taken to review this rating and the data that informed it?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. I do have an answer for the honourable member, but
I think there is an obvious error in it, so I will check it and come back to
him with an answer.
