LITHIUM RAIL SUPPLY CHAIN
806. Hon
DIANE EVERS to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the minister's
response to my question without notice 389 on 11 April 2019 regarding the
lithium rail supply chain.
(1) Has the
department's assessment of the viability of the proposal been
completed; and, if so, what was the outcome; and, if not, when is the work
likely to be completed?
(2) Given that
mining operations are expected to see a substantial increase in the near
future, when can the public expect a decision on the south west lithium rail
supply chain?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The transport
portfolio is currently awaiting the outcome of work by Arc Infrastructure,
including the second stage of pre-feasibility work and the business case.
(2) A decision will be able to be
made following this process.
