TRAINEESHIPS
169. Mrs A.K. HAYDEN to the Minister for Youth:
I have a supplementary question. As
the minister does not have a plan, can he confirm that the Treasurer's
short-sighted policy to cut payroll tax exemptions for traineeships has
contributed to youth unemployment in this state and that he will now lobby the
Treasurer to reverse this policy —
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members!
Treasurer!
Mrs A.K. HAYDEN : Will the
minister now lobby the Treasurer to reverse this policy, as he did with the
foreign buyers surcharge?

I will not indulge the member any
longer, in the interests of time and the business of this chamber. I think she
really needs to have a long hard look at herself. She is completely misguided
if she thinks that I or the Treasurer, or any member of cabinet, is anything
but in lock step to achieving the 150 000 jobs target. What target did members
opposite have?
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members!
Mr P.C. TINLEY : They had a target for dispossession and
disenfranchisement. The public told them emphatically in 2017 exactly where it stood on their plans, so
they should not come in here and lecture us about our plan for this state!
The SPEAKER : That is the end
of question time.
