(1) Western Australia Police has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Shire of Karratha whereby the impounded vehicles are stored Shire of Roebourne Works Yard, situated in the Karratha Light Industrial Area.
(2) 53 vehicles (as at 18 October 2011).
(3) - 25 vehicles are uncollected past their release due date.
- 28 vehicles are within the impounding period.
(4) From 1 January 2011 to 30 September 2011 the total cost was $234,280 plus GST.
(5) The financial implication of each vehicle stored at the Shire of Roebourne Works Yard is variable. In situations where costs are not recovered, debt recovery action is taken.
(6) Police meet with the owner of the vehicle at the Shire yard, escort them to their vehicle and wait while property is recovered.
(7) A Sergeant has general oversight of impounded vehicles and monthly reporting to the Shire.
