(2) The majority of sign language interpreters are employed 29 hours 15 minutes per week while the two Braille Transcribers are each employed 37.5 hours per week. (3) Sign Language interpreters are required to provide documentary evidence of qualifications and experience as part of the public sector merit selection process. Other staff who have National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) qualifications are required to provide documentary evidence to support their claim. Police clearances and referee checks are also undertaken. (4) Sign Language Interpreters: $18.28 - 19.92 per hour. (Education Assistant Level 3) Braille Transcribers: $38 661 - $42 957 per annum. (Public Servants)
