TRAINING ACCREDITATION COUNCIL
I refer to the Training Accreditation Council. (1) Is the minister aware that a registered training organisation was issuing a diploma in project management when it did not have the scope to do so? (2) Is the minister aware that a complaint has been made about this matter? (3) Is the minister aware that the RTO was advised that it could get it on scope and then reissue the diploma? (4) Does the minister support this advice? Hon PETER COLLIER

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. (1) I am advised that this matter was brought to the attention of the Training Accreditation Council. (2) When the matter was brought to the attention of the Training Accreditation Council, an immediate investigation was undertaken. As a result of an audit, it was confirmed that the RTO was able to meet the requirements for the diploma of project management. It is now on the RTO’s scope of qualifications, recognised by the Training Accreditation Council for it to deliver. (3) This is not the advice that was provided to the RTO by the Training Accreditation Council. Advice to the RTO was that any diploma of project management issued prior to the scope being approved was invalid and could not be automatically reissued. Subsequent to the scope approval, the RTO is now able to issue the certificates, but only if it follows the appropriate recognition of prior learning processes. (4) Not applicable.
