POLICE —
TWITTER USE — YOUNG OFFENDERS ACT 1994
274. Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH to
the Attorney General representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to police publishing photographs of alleged offenders
on Twitter requesting information on their identity. What checks and procedures
are undertaken to ensure that said publication does not breach the provisions
of the Young Offenders Act?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
Prior consultation occurs in each instance between the police
media unit and the relevant investigating officer on the benefit of publishing
images and, as part of this process, consideration is given to compliance with
the provisions of the Young Offenders Act 1994 .
