(1) The State Sustainability Strategy recommended the Government prepare a sustainability checklist and that BASIX should be investigated for this purpose. This work is now well advanced and a decision will be made by the end of this year as to whether to introduce BASIX as a mandatory scheme. (a) DPI is currently undertaking its own assessment of the performance of BASIX to deliver energy and water savings. We are expecting a report of the NSW results in the coming months. (b) An economic analysis of cost/benefit has been completed by Pracsys. This demonstrates occupants of BASIX compliant dwellings will achieve substantial savings. A copy of this report is available on CD. A regulatory impact statement is being prepared as the Government decision-making process. (c) Yes. (d-e) see answer (a) above. (2) n/a
