FIONA STANLEY HOSPITAL — CAR PARKING
1117. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to supplementary information
provided by the Department of Health following the budget estimates hearing on
11 June 2014 that advised the visitor parking rate at Fiona Stanley Hospital
would be $2 an hour with a cap of $10.
(1) Can the
minister confirm that patients have subsequently been informed that parking
will be $2 an hour with a cap of $21 a day?
(2) What is
the current rate to park at Fiona Stanley Hospital?
(3) If the
rate in (2) is different from the original advice provided to the Standing
Committee on Estimates and Financial Operations, can the minister explain —
(a) when did the rates change; and
(b) why did they change?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for notice of the question.
(1)–(2) Patients
are aware of the current visitors' parking rates through communication
by Fiona Stanley Hospital staff. Visitors' parking at Fiona Stanley
Hospital is $3 an hour with a cap of $21 a day. Paid visitor parking commenced
on 13 October 2014.
(3) (a) Prior
to 13 October 2014, there were no parking fees. The fees commenced being
charged on 13 October.
(b) The change
was to ensure parking rates at Fiona Stanley Hospital aligned with the St John
of God Hospital Murdoch rates so that it does not unduly distort local parking
rates.
