Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to children in the care of the chief executive
officer of the Department for Child Protection and Family Support. As at 1
September 2014 —
(1) How many children by region were
in the care of the CEO?
(2) How many child protection
workers had the following allocation of case numbers —
(a) 14 cases;
(b) 15 cases;
(c) 16 cases;
(d) 17 cases;
(e) 18 cases;
(f) 19 cases; and
(g) 20 cases and above?
(3) How many safety and wellbeing assessments were undertaken
by each departmental region?

(1) As at 31
August 2014, 4 321 children were in the care of the CEO in the following
districts: 431 in Armadale, 350 in Cannington, 260 in Fremantle, 314 in
Joondalup, 353 in Midland, 328 in Mirrabooka, 264 in Perth, 267 in Rockingham,
116 in the East Kimberley, 178 in the goldfields, 190 in the great southern,
186 in the Murchison, 208 in Peel, 195 in the Pilbara, 279 in the south west,
193 in the West Kimberley, 198 in the wheatbelt, and 11 in fostering and
adoption services.
(2) Reports
are not available for staff carrying 14 or 15 cases as this is within workload
limits. The workload management report was collected on 6 September 2014 and
states —
(a) There was no report.
(b) There was no report.
(c) There were 52 workers.
(d) There were 45 workers.
(e) There were 24 workers.
(f) One worker.
(g) Two workers.
(3) As at 31
August 2014, 3 361 safety and wellbeing assessments were done in the following
districts: 290 in Armadale, 243 in Cannington, 79 in Fremantle, 105 in
Joondalup, 329 in Midland, 171 in Mirrabooka, 128 in Perth, 208 in Rockingham,
116 in the East Kimberley, 115 in the goldfields, 200 in the great southern,
201 in the Murchison, 230 in Peel, 318 in the Pilbara, 150 in the south west,
198 in the West Kimberley, 197 in the wheatbelt, 76 in crisis care, and seven
in other work units.
