WESTERN POWER — PREMIER'S COMMENTS
110. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. I repeat
to the Premier what he said.
Mr
C.J. Barnett interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Thank you, Premier.
Mr
P.B. Watson interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Right. You are not on three; you are on two and a half, so settle
down.
Mr
M. McGOWAN : I repeat to the Premier what he said in February, which is last
month: ''I'm not going to let Western Australia get in that
position'', referring to the sale of Western Power. Was the Premier
correct in February or is he correct now?

AnswerView source ↗

I will not let Western Australia get
in the position that South Australia finds itself in. That is what I said.
South Australia is in a parlous position and I will not allow Western Australia
to get in that position.
Mr
M. McGowan interjected.
Mr
C.J. BARNETT : It is not very tricky; actually, it is honest—something
you should try, a bit of honesty and a bit of integrity. They are swirling
around you, Leader of the Opposition. If you think Stephen Smith has finished,
he has barely started on you.
