I refer to the application to proceed with tenure change to the Wattle Downs pastoral lease - special lease 3116-11748 - which is currently held by the Jarndu Yawuru Aboriginal Corporation. The Department for Planning and Infrastructure has recently written indicating that it does not intend to proceed with any tenure change to the Wattle Downs pastoral lease until after the Federal Court decision is handed down. This letter was in response to a recent inquiry from the Kimberley Land Council. Can the minister inform the house why the Kimberley Land Council should be involved in proceedings in the Wattle Downs pastoral lease when the lease is held by the Jarndu Yawuru Aboriginal Corporation?
