Minister for Police:
I refer the minister to
the Floreat shooting tragedy and to his response to question without notice 818
on 13 August 2024.
(1) What is
the standard Western Australia Police Force procedure in relation to the public
release of reports into shooting incidents?
(2) Have there
been incidents since March 2017 when reports referred to in (1) have been
released; and, if yes, which reports?
(3) In the
interests of full transparency for an incident that has enormous public
interest, why will the minister not commit to releasing the report into the
Floreat tragedy?

The Western Australia Police Force advises as follows.
(1) The WA
Police Force does not release reports directly to the public in relation to
fatal shooting incidents.
(2) No.
(3) The
Commissioner of Police is happy to release findings in relation to the internal
investigation into the Floreat tragedy for full transparency, but will only do
so after careful consultation with the following important stakeholders, and only if they are satisfied and consent to do
so: one, Ariel and Rowena Bombara ; two, Liesl Petelczyc; three, the Corruption
and Crime Commission, and only after it is satisfied with the quality of the
internal investigation and in consideration of its functions; four, the State
Coroner; and five, the WA Ombudsman.
