The question concerns the government's policy on truck traffic on Leach Highway, specifically why restrictions differ based on location relative to the Kwinana Freeway. The answer justifies the policy by citing the availability of Roe Highway as an alternative route east of the freeway.

LEACH HIGHWAY - TRUCK TRAFFIC
Why does the government consider it appropriate for large trucks to use Leach Highway west of the Kwinana Freeway but not east of the Kwinana Freeway? Hon ADELE FARINA

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. East of Kwinana Freeway, an alternative route is available that has been developed expressly to accommodate trucks. Having spent more than $180 million developing Roe Highway stages 4 to 7, it is logical that we should require trucks to use it.
