The Minister for Energy has been provided with the following response
Horizon Power
1) $973.25 owed to 5 creditors.
2) Reasons for late payment include non-adherence to Horizon Power purchasing guidelines, and mismatching between order and invoice details (invoice received from a company different from that on whom the order was placed).
Horizon Power endeavours to pay all invoices within the agreed payment terms. Horizon Power continues to follow up payment reminders and statements, and initiate contact with creditors when there is any apparent discrepancy between an order, goods or services received, and invoices.

Synergy Energy

(2) To expedite payments to creditors, we have increased the number of electronic funds transfer and cheque payments from one to two per week for each method. We have also moved to a web based payment system for electronic funds transfer and direct credit payments to ensure more secure and faster payments.
Verve Energy

(2) A monthly review of creditors aging report is carried out. Any disputed invoices are followed up and clarified, and the suppliers' statement of accounts are reviewed.
Western Power
(1) $25,131 owed to 6 creditors.
(2) Accounts payable department have put into place procedures to review the balance of creditors outstanding on a weekly basis, with the intention of resolving issues holding up payment.
