(1) The focus of the former Minister of Health's visit to the United Kingdom (UK) was not just on nurse recruitment. The visit included the areas of nursing workforce, emergency departments, health policy, safety and quality. (a) The former Minister of Health was accompanied by Mrs Susan Kucera and Dr Phillip Della. Dr Della is the Chief Nursing Officer in the Department of Health, Western Australia. (b) The total cost was $33,037.33 (2) Based on the information available in the twelve-month period (1/1/01 - 31/12/01) prior to the former Minister of Health's visit to the UK and Ireland, a total of 167 nurses from these countries registered with the Nurses Board of Western Australia. Following the Ministers visit, in the twelve-month period (1/1/02 - 31/12/02), a total of 658 nurses from the UK and Ireland registered with the Nurses Board of Western Australia.
