Hon. Sophia Moermond questions the Minister for Environment regarding the full-time status and working hours of the 650 Aboriginal ranger jobs created since 2017. The Minister's response indicates a lack of data collection on full-time equivalency and average hours for Phase 1 of the program.

ABORIGINAL RANGER PROGRAM
1014. Hon SOPHIA MOERMOND to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Environment:
I refer to the media statement
issued today regarding the Aboriginal ranger program, which has created more
than 650 ranger jobs on country since 2017.
(1) Of the 650 ranger jobs created,
what percentage of these roles were offered at full time?
(2) If these 650
positions were not offered full time, what is the number of full-time
equivalent positions since 2017?
(3) If the
positions were not offered full time, what was the average number of hours
offered to each ranger?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question. On behalf of the Minister for Environment, I provide the
following answer.
(1) The 650 jobs
pertain to the total number of ranger employment opportunities offered in phase
1 of the Aboriginal ranger program. Full-time equivalent data was not gathered
for phase 1 of the ARP. As an improvement to the program, this information is
now being sought in phase 2 reporting.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) This data is not sought from
Aboriginal organisations so cannot be provided or accurately estimated.
