RESIDENTIAL PARKS
(LONG-STAY TENANTS) ACT — AMENDMENTS
665. Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN to the minister
representing the Minister for Commerce and Industrial Relations:
I refer to the minister's
media statement of 24 July 2017 titled ''Extra protections for park home
residents in WA'' in which he said —
The McGowan Government today
announced amendments to residential caravan park laws to provide extra
protections for Western Australians.
(1) Some 13
months having elapsed, where are these announced amendments to be found and
what is their status?
(2) Given it was
believed a year ago, as the media statement said, that seniors living in
so-called lifestyle villages were vulnerable to the possibility of their homes
being taken from them in the event a village owner decided to sell or went
bankrupt, has the government changed its view as to their vulnerability and the
urgency of action; and, if so, why?
(3) When exactly will the government introduce its
promised changes to the Residential Parks (Long-stay Tenants) Act 2006,
rather than just announce them?
