Given the Minister’s lack of awareness about Oprah Winfrey’s visit to Australia and Tourism Western Australia being left out of the loop despite other tourism bodies being up to speed, I ask:
(a) is the Minister aware that Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) will be held in Perth next year; and
(b) what personal invitation has the Minister or Tourism Western Australia already sent to the Queen to encourage her to visit Perth and other tourism attractions in Western Australia during CHOGM?

(a) Yes.
(b) As the Member knows, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet is responsible for the planning and coordination of Royal visits to the State by Guests of Government and other distinguished visitors. The Department works in close cooperation with the appropriate federal, state and local government authorities to develop a suitable programme for visiting dignitaries. Official visits are only facilitated by the Department following prior agreement between the Commonwealth or State Government and the country of the visiting dignitary.
