I refer to acts of vandalism and desecration of war memorials, or memorials that commemorate past wars, and ask: (a) how many people were successfully prosecuted in the courts for acts of vandalism or desecration of war memorials for each of the years 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and as of 19 February 2019; and (b) of those successfully prosecuted, what was the heaviest sentence imposed and what was the minimum sentence imposed for acts of vandalism or desecration of war memorials for each of the years 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and as of 19 February 2019?

(a) - (b) WA currently has legislative protections against criminal damage, with significant penalties, and defacing property by graffiti that apply to war memorials as to other sites or property. The Department of Justice does not have a ready way to extract offences based on the category of property that was damaged or defaced by graffiti.
