I refer to the answer given by the minister earlier about his ability to write to the Shire of Manjimup. In view of the fact that he expects to write to the Shire of Manjimup within a few days, would he have been able to do so had he received a copy of the letter from the Minister for the Environment and Heritage earlier than July, as it was written in February this year? Hon KIM CHANCE

Quite possibly I could have. However, as noted in the answer that I provided the member with, some of those issues could not have been resolved at the time and have taken some time to resolve. I understand the letter deals with a range of issues. I cannot say that I read the letter. It seems as though we may have been able to reply to some of those issues; some of them we may have had to respond to. However, we would not have been in a position to make an announcement. We still may not be able to provide a final answer on some of the issues because they relate to policy deliberations. The answer in short is yes, but it might not have been a very satisfactory answer in that we probably did not have the facts at hand.
